Southside / 1199 Negotiation Update – 03/03/2020

Since we began negotiations with the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East labor union (1199) five months ago, we have conveyed our commitment to reaching a fair and fiscally-responsible contract that is truly customized to reflect the unique professional status and contributions of our NPs.

Consistent with that approach, during our last negotiation session with 1199, we’re happy to report that the parties tentatively agreed to establish a Labor-Management, Professional Practice and Workplace Safety Committee specifically for NPs. Regularly meeting with Southside Hospital management throughout the year, the committee will have formal opportunities to bring up issues and concerns affecting NPs, such as improving communications and making recommendations concerning workplace and professional practice matters. This agreement is encouraging because it will help ensure that we continue receiving valued input from all of you.
