Southside / 1199 Negotiation Update – 06/20/2020
On behalf of the entire Southside Hospital leadership team and negotiating committee, we want to express our utmost gratitude for your remarkable bravery and steadfast commitment to patient care over the past few months. As caregivers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic, you should be proud of how you navigated this unprecedented crisis. Your heroic actions had a powerful ripple effect throughout Southside Hospital, the community, and beyond.
As we continue on our road to recovery, we’re pleased to report that collective bargaining is again underway between Southside Hospital (Southside) and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (1199) to negotiate the terms and conditions of our Nurse Practitioners’ employment. Adapting to the realities of these times, Southside and 1199 are negotiating via videoconference.
At this first virtual session yesterday, Southside discussed with 1199 several subjects, including scheduling and leaves of absence. Topics like these bring us to the stage in the negotiations where both sides are focusing on those issues with bigger divides between the parties. The parties — while in disagreement and unable to bring these matters to closure yesterday — nonetheless remain committed to continue in our efforts to bargain toward mutual resolution. To that purpose the next negotiations session is scheduled for Thursday, July 23.
We encourage you to stay informed throughout the negotiations by visiting this website and signing up for text message alerts by texting SSNP to 333-111. Thank you for your continued interest in the negotiations.
