Southside / 1199 Negotiation Update – 08/20/2020

Yesterday, Southside Hospital and 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (1199) met virtually for our ninth negotiation session.

During the negotiations, we presented 11 new counterproposals on topics ranging from holiday and personal time to vacations and seniority. Importantly, these 11 proposals represent the final issues that need to be resolved before we can advance the conversation to economic topics such as salary and benefits.

Throughout the day’s discussions, it became evident that we remain separated on many of these important issues. Nonetheless, we are encouraged by the spirited conversation held on Wednesday and remain hopeful that the union will exhibit the open-mindedness and flexibility needed to customize this contract to reflect the unique professional status of our nurse practitioners.
