Southside / 1199 Negotiation Update – 11/4/2019

Last month we began contract negotiations with 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East (1199). Southside Hospital is dedicated to keeping you fully informed throughout the negotiation process by email, text messages and a dedicated website.

On Oct. 28 we met with 1199 for the second time across the bargaining table.  The parties engaged in constructive dialog with 1199, addressing several non-economic proposals. Negotiating labor contracts, especially first contracts like this one, present unique challenges as the parties involved strive to reach consensus through compromise and understanding. Our steadfast commitment to you throughout these negotiations is to bargain in good faith over the many issues that will be discussed related to your working conditions. It will most certainly involve give-and-take on both sides, but ultimately we are confident the parties will reach an agreement that is fair, fiscally-responsible, and reflects the unique professional role you play in caring for our hospital’s patients.
